Worship at Faith

OUR WORSHIP STYLE

At Faith PCA, we believe that worship is not first and foremost about “me” as an individual, but about “us” corporately gathering together as God’s people to commune with the Lord. Our liturgy (or order of worship) starts with a Call to Worship which comes from God’s Word and ends with a Benediction (or blessing for the road) to send us on our way. And in between, we sing, we pray, we read Scripture, we sit under the preaching of the Word, we give offerings, we have a time for both corporate and silent confession of our sins as well as an assurance of the pardon we have in Christ, and we take communion every week. We believe that with this sort of intentionality and order, it helps us to be “Gospel-centered” - focusing on the Good News of Jesus and all that he offers us as sinners.

OUR MUSIC

Our kind God has given us the gift of singing and music as a means by which we are to worship him. While not all of us are necessarily “musically-inclined”, we can all “make a joyful noise unto the Lord” (Psalm 100:1), and as Christians we are all called to “teach and admonish one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs” (Colossians 3:16). So all of us have a part to play in worship on Sunday mornings, which means the congregation does not gather to listen to the band but just the opposite! The band is here to accompany our congregation as we sing together, seeking to build all of us up as a body of believers with music that is accessible and songs that are biblical.

On any given Sunday you may hear classic hymns of the faith or modern worship songs with a band featuring anything from guitar, drums, piano, cello, violin, banjo, and vocalists leading the congregation in worship. We have classically trained musicians and garage band musicians. We also love to give new folks an opportunity to use their gifts.
